Meet Our Naturalist
Naturalist and Director of Recreation Mark Bullinger grew up in our community, digging clams and catching crabs in the local waters. Just as he discovered the enchantments of this special place, his expertise can enhance your own experience of the Inn and its surroundings
Mark will be a visible presence at the Inn, both leading and arranging organized activities; he can also help you create a plan of your own. From providing guidance for identifying the amazing variety of birds that frequent the pond to assisting you in plotting a kayak excursion or fishing trip, our resident naturalist is committed to providing a rich, multifaceted Weekapaug experience.
Says Mark, “I’m so excited about this opportunity to join the Inn. I worked here for two summers in my youth and now I’m coming back, with years of experience and a whole different set of skills.”
Prior to joining us at the Inn, Mark was the executive director of the Salt Ponds Coalition. His lifelong explorations of the southern Rhode Island coast, and familiarity with the state’s nine salt ponds, make him ideally suited to help our guests and community enjoy the natural riches of this beautiful location.
